Nicholas Ambraseys’ Publications 1954–2012

The following electronic supplement lists 328 articles, five books, and two CD-ROMs authored or co-authored by Nick Ambraseys during his long and productive career. Approximately ⅔ of these articles, and all of his books, chronicle and quantify historical earthquakes and tsunami. The remainder discuss hydrodynamics, engineering seismology, and the dynamic stability of soils undergoing strong shaking. The list does not include engineering reports associated with 19 large dams on which he acted as a consultant, and excludes several UNESCO post-earthquake site investigations.

Pie Chart of Ambraseys' Publications Subject Matter

▲ Figure S1. Of Nicholas Ambraseys’ 328 published journal articles 59% concern case studies of recent and historical earthquakes, 29% discuss aspects of earthquake engineering design, 9% are strong-motion and attenuation contributions, and 3% concern tsunami. His six books (see listing below) document studies of historical earthquakes.
