The Board of Directors serves as the governing body for SSA. Elected by our community every January, Board members set broad policy and direction for our nonprofit Society, helping SSA accomplish its mission of advancing seismology worldwide.
To achieve this mission, SSA expects every member and all who participate in SSA-sponsored programs to adhere to the highest standards of scientific integrity, personal accountability and ethics in their professional activities. These standards are outlined in the Society’s Professional Ethics Policy.
SSA Bylaws serve as the Society’s operating manual, covering everything from SSA’s mission and membership qualifications and dues to the specifics of how committees and the Board conduct official SSA business.
In 2025, the Board will begin a strategic planning process to revise and affirm the Society’s goals and mission for the future.
SSA is grateful to the volunteers who serve on the Board and on the many committees that help our Society continue to embrace the diversity of people, perspectives and ideas that fuels our scientific progress.
