1 May 2017 – SRL has issued a call for papers for a Focus Section on Geophysical Networks and Related Developments in Latin America.
In recent years, there have been many efforts throughout the region to improve and expand national seismic/geodetic networks; along with this, as part of larger projects, instruments to observe a variety of seismic/aseismic phenomena have been deployed. Their capabilities include temporal and spatial resolution from millihertz to thousands of seconds and from a few millimeters to thousands of kilometers, allowing previously undocumented detection of signals. This SRL section will focus on descriptions of the geophysical networks to observed earthquakes and associated phenomena, their contribution to the advancement of earthquake science, as well as their impact on society.
Guest editors for this focus section are:
- Sergio Barrientos, CSN, University of Chile ( sbarrien@csn.uchile.cl)
- Xyoli Pérez‐Campos, SSN, UNAM, Mexico (xyoli@geofisica.unam.mx)
Interested authors please send inquiries and notices of intent to submit a paper to Sergio Barrientos. The submission deadline is 1 September 2017. Publication is planned for March 2018.
Manuscripts should be prepared as described by the SRL Submission Guidelines and submitted via http://srl.edmgr.com under the category “Geophysical Networks in Latin America.” The recommended length of the main text is 3000 words. Longer papers may be submitted at
the discretion of the editor.
Address questions about scientific issues to the guest editors or SRL Editor‐in‐Chief Zhigang Peng at srleditor@seismosoc.org. Address questions about submissions to SRL Managing Editor Mary George at srl@seismosoc.org.
